Snowzilla!

The Washington DC area named our January blizzard Snowzilla, hence the title. Since this one was expected to leave deep snow, I decided to prepare by collecting yardsticks to prop against trees around the house so that we could measure the snow.

The storm started Fri afternoon and lasted long into Sat night. Sat afternoon I backed snowflake gingerbread cookies in the coziness of the warm house while the wind blew and snow whooshed all over the place.

By nightfall it was still snowing.

6" was recorded in the side yard near our sledding hill....

18" was recorded in the front yard...

The other side of the house had 0"

10" was in the back yard.

Hmmm. We were expected at least 2 feet. I wasn't sure that we'd make that by the end of the evening.
