An 800 Page Book from 1692 Book on Color
Imagine a book of extensive cataloguing of various shades of color. Such a book was watercolored by A. Boogert in Dutch in 1692. Meant to be an educational book, few saw it until recently when it was put onto the internet. Text includes details about the use of color, but colors array through the pages as the painter showed variations of hues and tones by adding various layers of water to the colors. The result was 800 pages. Title Traité des couleurs servant à la peinture à l’eaud this book is kept at Bibliotheque Mejanes in Aix-en-Provence, France.
