Yesterday was a special day because we celebrated my son's graduation from high school! When my daughter graduated a couple of years ago, I looked for something special since we weren't involved in a co-op to do a formal ceremony. How could I make it special. In my research I found a restaurant in Washington DC called Lafayette! I am a huge Lafayette fan and we have visited "him" many times in Colonial Williamsburg. I hoped this would make a great high school graduation celebration. Everyone loved it! My son said he wanted to return for his graduation, so yesterday was the day!
Restaurant Lafayette is located in the Hays Adams Hotel across from Lafayette Square which is across from the White House. These two men, Hays and Adams live on this street corner in the 19th century when Hays worked for President Lincoln. Adams is indeed one of the descendants of the legendary John Adams and John Quincy Adams.
We were a bit early so we used the beautiful 19th century decor for a grand graduation photo op! I insisted we integrate historical aspects in honor of our Becoming History, dressing up in historical clothing for our history lessons over the years!
We enjoyed brunch in The Lafayette. From our table we could see Lafayette Square through the window.
